Giant doughnut and coffee retail chain Dunkin’ Donuts will resume serving Hawaii on July 26 with a new store in Honolulu after a more than decade-long absence.
The store with a drive-thru at 3270 Ualena St. near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is scheduled for a grand opening at 7 a.m.
As part of the event, the first customer in line outside the store and the first customer in line at the drive-thru will receive a $100 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card.
Aloha Petroleum Ltd., a subsidiary of Sunoco LP, developed the store and will operate it under a franchise. The company, which announced detailed plans for the store in February, has committed to build 15 Dunkin’ Donuts stores statewide within eight years under a franchise agreement with Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc.
Hawaii previously had Dunkin’ Donuts stores operated by another franchisee, but the last of those stores closed more than 10 years ago. Worldwide there are about 12,200 Dunkin’ Donuts stores in 45 countries.
