Jason Cvercko, the director of recruiting and retention for the University of Hawaii football team, will be the guest speaker at this week’s Honolulu Quarterback Club.
Cvercko joined the Rainbow Warriors staff in 2016 under head coach Nick Rolovich. Prior to UH, Cvercko served as the coordinator of recruiting operations at the University of Nevada, and the director of football operations at Stony Brook University.
The meeting will take place at the Maple Garden Restaurant. Lunch costs $16 per person and will be served at 11:30 a.m., while the program begins at noon.
Mililani KC advances to World Series
Chyler DeSilva was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three runs batted in, as Mililani KC beat Windsor, Calif., 10-0 in four innings to win the championship of the 12u-70 Cal Ripken Pacific Southwest Regional.
Mililani KC scored nine runs on 11 hits in the first two innings, also hitting four home runs.
Evan Elarionoff allowed just one hit on the mound with five strikeouts.
Earlier in the day, Miliani KC defeated Bullard, Calif., 15-4 in four innings to reach the championship game.
Mililani KC finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record, outscoring opponents 77-8. DeSilva, Elarionoff, Zarin Poopaa and Jase Ellamar were named to the all-tournament team. Poopaa had home runs in each of the six games in the tournament.
Mililani KC advances to the 2017 Cal Ripken 12u-70 World Series in Branson, Mo., August 3-10.
>> KRU claimed the Pacific Southwest regional title with a pair of wins in Visalia, Calif.
KRU beat Bakersfield, Calif., 10-0 in the semifinals and took out Los Altos, Calif., by the same score in the championship. Both games were limited to four innings.
Zyon Faleiva, Shaveh Sarono and Jesse Villalon were named to the all-tournament team, with Villalon earning MVP honors. KRU moves on to the Cal Ripken 10u World Series in Hammond, Ind., beginning Aug. 3.
>> The Hawaiian Fire fell in the bottom of the seventh inning to Bakersfield, Calif., 2-1 on a walk-off walk in the semifinals of the Cal Ripken 11u Pacific Southwest Regional.
Hawaiian Fire finished the tournament with a 3-2 record. Justin Tilton, Blade Paragas, Reyn Gaspar and Maddix Muramoto were named to the all-tournament team.
>> The Honolulu Saints lost in the championship of the Cal Ripken 12-60 Pacific Southwest Regional, losing 4-3 to Tulare, Calif.
The Saints finished the tournament with a 5-1 record. Caleb Okada, Sean Yamaguchi, Matthew Zarriello and Chandler Murray were named to the all-tournament team.
