Hawaii and the nation said goodbye to music legend Glen Campbell, who died Tuesday after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He had bid farewell from the stage in 2012, on his final tour.
The singer and guitar virtuoso became a crossover country-pop star almost 50 years ago on his variety show,”The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.” Fans can go online for scenes taped here — one showed beach horseback rides with Jack Lord. Another gem from the Campbell archives: Who knew the idea for recording “Galveston” came from Don Ho?
Aloha to this “country boy” with a spot in his heart for Hawaii.
Make it easier to spay, neuter feral cats
Oahu is in need of a program through which feral or community cats can undergo low-cost spaying and neutering. The trap-neuter-return practice helps stabilize and decrease colony populations, with the fixed felines living out their natural nine lives without reproducing. It’s a humane solution to an ongoing over-population problem in the islands.
Here’s hoping that the City Council puts in place an effective version of Bill 22, which would add feral cats to the lineup of animals eligible for an ongoing city program through which pet owners can obtain discounts for spaying and neutering surgery.
