Hawaii’s team of Kamie Hamada and Danielle Ujimori took second Wednesday at the Mary Cave Cup in El Cajon, Calif.
Hamada and Ujimori shot 67-70 in the four-ball format at Sycuan Resort-Oak Glen. Their 7 under par finish left them six behind the winning team from Southern California.
Ujimori was third individually, two shots out of first, after shooting 69-74.
Hawaii’s Lana Calibuso-Kwee and Naomi Wong were 10th with rounds of 73-74. There were 16 teams in the field, from California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Mexico.

Twigs, stones and leaves are all examples of “loose impediments,” items you can find on or around your golf ball that are fixed or growing. Did we say leaves? There are plenty of them around the golf course. Can you move them? Yes, you may remove loose items from around your ball with no penalty as long as your ball is not lying within the boundaries of a hazard, where no loose item may be removed. The penalty for doing so is two strokes in stroke play, and loss of hole in match play.

The tournament started in 2004 to provide junior girls a tournament similar to the boys’ Eddie Hogan Cup, which is this weekend in Portland, Ore.
Pearl Country Club runs special
Pearl Country Club is running a Kamaaina Appreciation Special through the end of October. Hawaii residents with ID can play for $40 after noon weekdays and $50 after noon on weekends and holidays.
The fee includes cart and taxes.
