The Hawaii soccer team defeated Houston Baptist 3-0 in a preseason exhibition Monday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Lillie French scored early to stake the Rainbow Wahine to a 1-0 halftime lead, newcomer Kiri Dale struck from 25 yards out in the second half and Paige Okazaki tacked on a corner-kick score from Izzy Deutsch.

Oda tied for seventh at U.S. Amateur
UNLV incoming senior and Moanalua alum John Oda is tied for seventh after one round at the U.S. Amateur at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., after shooting a 2-under 68 on Monday.
Kailua native and San Diego State senior PJ Samiere is tied for 61st after shooting a 2-over 72.
Round two will be played today and the top 64 golfers will advance to match play.

Thunder advance to Babe Ruth semifinals
The Thunder Baseball team wrapped up pool play undefeated at the Babe Ruth 14U World Series after a 5-1 win over host Glen Allen, Va., Monday.
Jaron Yoshikane, Jayton Pang and Carlson Ogata each had two hits for the Thunder.
Jerin Po’opa’a earned the win for the Thunder, striking out eight and allowing just two hits and one run in 51⁄3 innings pitched. Jayton Pang got the save with two strikeouts and one hit in 12⁄3 innings of relief.
The Thunder (4-0) earned the top seed in the American Division and now await their semifinal opponent for a game to be played on Wednesday.
