Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is calling for a “handful” of changes, such as altering boundaries, at an undisclosed number of national monuments. But his draft assessment after a 120-day review of 27 sites, including Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, stops short of eliminating any, according to the few details released Thursday.

Some 1.3 million comments made during the review process found that over 99.2 percent of them supported protecting the monuments. Here’s hoping that Papahanaumokuakea and the Pacific Remote Islands Marine Monument will remain intact.
