Yauatcha Waikiki — which has a sister restaurant in Houston — is donating 15 percent of sales of select items to support the city’s victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Through Oct. 1, funds will go to the Greater Houston Community Foundation from orders of the Lychee & Rose Martini, created specially for the benefit; Sea Prawns Dumpling with caviar, a new item; and the Raspberry Delice dessert.
Yauatcha is in the International Market Place in Waikiki.
FIREFIGHTERS FIRE UP SKILLET SKILLS AT BENEFIT
Top firefighting cooks will heat up the kitchen with their best dishes next week, working alongside chefs from the Waikiki hotels during a benefit dinner at the Royal Hawaiian hotel.
The Honolulu Firefighters Foundation’s Signature Chef’s Food Festival runs 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 15.
Firefighter Jordan Santos will prepare roasted pork belly with guava-habanero sauce, blue cheese mash and apple slaw, while firefighter Gary Atud will deliver candied banana rolls with ube glaze and vanilla ice cream.
From the Royal Hawaiian’s Chris Kirksey: the Loco, a foie gras-stuffed wild eland patty served with truffle puffed rice. David Lukela, Moana Surfrider: Nutella, banana and foie gras sandwiches. Darren Demaya, Sheraton Waikiki: soy-bonito-crusted ahi slider. Aaron Love III, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani: shrimp grits, garlic cheese grits and jalapeno cornbread. Lyndon Honda, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa: hoisin lengua mole bao buns.
