Kunia plane wreckage to remain on mountain

    Friends and family of the victims of the crash of a Beech 19A plane watched as a Honolulu Fire Department helicopter headed to the crash site to retrieve bodies and return them to the helicopter staging area in Kunia.

    The Department of Land and Natural Resources has determined that the wreckage of a Beech 19A plane in the Honouliuli Forest Reserve does not pose any environmental hazard.

The wreckage of the Beech 19A aircraft that crashed near Kunia on July 28, killing all four Oahu residents on board, likely will stay in the state-owned Honouliuli Forest Reserve where it went down. Read more
