Waikiki kiosks skirt law by using wheels


    John Truong, owner of Nail Zone, pitched his business while standing next to his mobile kiosk set up on Kalakaua Avenue on Wednesday. Nail Zone is located off Kalakaua. A loophole in city ordinance allows businesses to put kiosks on wheels and use the public sidewalk to promote their businesses.

A loophole in city law is allowing Waikiki businesses to use wheeled kiosks to promote their merchandise and services rent-free on public sidewalks along Kalakaua Avenue, where traditional retailers pay premium rents. Read more
