The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is starting on Monday a daily digital news program, anchored by veteran journalists Yunji de Nies and Ryan Kalei Tsuji. The one-minute newscast will feature headlines from the Star-Advertiser and run
on the Digital Billboard Network,
a network of screens in more than 70 stores across Oahu.
It also will be featured on star
advertiser.com and the paper’s
social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
De Nies spent five years anchoring the evening news at KITV and was an ABC News White House correspondent before that. Tsuji is a sports reporter and commentator covering University of Hawaii athletics at Spectrum Sports and a former KITV morning news reporter.
“We are excited to launch this revolutionary new media platform,” said Dennis Francis, publisher of the Star-Advertiser. “We understand that our readers are consuming news in a variety of ways, and this platform is a fantastic way to keep them up to date with what’s happening in Hawaii,” he said. “Yunji and Ryan bring years of journalistic experience that viewers
can trust, and will be working
hand in hand with our team at the newspaper.”
The Star-Advertiser’s Digital
Billboard Network incorporates a digital screen attached to the Star-Advertiser newspaper kiosk in various locations, including Longs Drugs, Aloha Island Mart and Jamba Juice.
