Lots of people were excited to hear about all the new food at Foodland Farms in Ala Moana Center, which just celebrated its first anniversary Labor Day weekend.
Me? I wanted to know if The Bar at R. Field Wine Co., an oasis of wine and beer in the middle of all those groceries, had anything new going on. Turns out, R. Field’s advanced sommelier Marvin Chang had indeed been working on revamping The Bar’s wine list.
“The staff reports seeing many return guests, some coming to The Bar several times a week,” Chang said via email. “To complement the new menu I added several food-friendly selections including Chapoutier Belleruche Rose (2016), Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Sainte Claire (2015) and Nekeas El Chaparral Garnacha (2015).”
The Bar offers 2- and 6-ounce pours ranging in price from $3 to $4.50 and $9 to $12, respectively. The rest of the current lineup:
>> N.V. Maison J.J. Vincent Cremant de Bourgogne (France)
>> 2015 Graff Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese (Italy)

In case you didn’t know, anything purchased at Foodland Farms Ala Moana can be enjoyed with a drink at The Bar, from poke bowls and steak plates to bags of potato chips or a build-your-own cheese platter. And if you find a drink you like during a visit, you can pick up a bottle on the spot to take home and enjoy later.
