The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man killed in an early-morning shooting outside a Waikiki club Saturday as 22-year-old Maleko Remlinger of Kaneohe.
Remlinger and two other men were shot as they were standing amid a crowd of about 20 people outside Club Alley Cat around 5:45 a.m.
Police located and arrested suspect Jordan A. Smith, 18, at a Young Street apartment building Sunday.
Remlinger died of multiple gunshot wounds, the Medical Examiner determined.
The shooting occurred on private property in an area people frequent after nearby bars close, police said.
A Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman said officers had previously responded to noise, drinking and other nuisance complaints, and patrols in the area were increased “a couple of months ago.”
Police will contact the property manager and owner to work on long-term solutions, the spokeswoman said.
Crash kills Waianae motorcyclist, 33
A 33-year-old motorcyclist has died after a collision in Nanakuli.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Michael Aken of Waianae. The case was classified as an accident.
At about 7:05 p.m. Sunday, police said, Aken was traveling north on Hakimo Road on a Kawasaki motorcycle when he struck a 2015 Ford pickup truck operated by a 70-year-man, who was making a left turn onto Hakimo Road from Kapiki Road.
Emergency Medical Services transported the motorcyclist in critical condition to The Queen’s Medical Center-West, where he was pronounced dead.
He was not wearing a helmet. Police said excessive speed may have been a factor.
This is the 32nd traffic-related fatality on Oahu this year, compared with 41 at the same time last year.
