Junior hitter McKenna Granato put down 22 kills and Hawaii avoided what would have been a devastating loss by rallying past UC Riverside 20-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19, 15-7 tonight in a Big West volleyball match in Riverside, Calif.
Granato added a double-double with 10 digs for the Rainbow Wahine (10-5, 4-0), who won their eighth straight. Junior hitter Casey Castillo and senior middle Emily Maglio each had 14 kills for Hawaii, which extended its conference winning streak to 14 dating back to last season.
Junior hitter Kaiulani Ahuna (Kamehameha-Hawaii) had a career-high 21 kills for the Highlanders (8-8, 0-4), who lost their sixth straight.
The match saw Maglio notch her 600th kill and senior libero Savanah Kahakai move into sixth place on UH’s career digs list by compiling 15 digs. Hawaii improved to 22-0 over UC Riverside.
