Na Mea Hawai‘i, which showcases the work of Hawaii artists, artisans and authors, will celebrate its reopening in Ward Centre with an open house from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The store moved out of Ward Warehouse when the shopping center closed in July.
The event was scheduled to coincide with Thursday’s full moon. “There will be a sneak peak on a moon-phase book from kahu Wendell Silva,” said Maile Meyer, founder of Na Mea Hawai‘i. Matt Love from Waimanalo will provide entertainment and a simple menu of local foods such as steamed kalo, uala, haupia and mamaki tea will be offered.
Na Mea’s literary arm, Native Books, is included in the renovated 2,500-square-foot space that was formerly occupied by Brookstone. The store is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and until 6 p.m. Sundays. Info: 596-8885.
