First Hawaiian Bank opened a new 2,500-square-foot Liliha branch on Tuesday that is the company’s first facility on Oahu to offer new “service pods” for a personalized customer experience.
The bank, which has been part of the Liliha community since 1992, said the facility will replace an older branch in the area that closed Saturday.
First Hawaiian’s new branch, at 1425 Liliha St. in the Liliha Square Shopping Center, has an open-floor concept. The traditional teller counter has been replaced by three “service pods,” which creates a more personalized experience for customers working with bank staff. There are additional meeting spaces for customers needing privacy when discussing their financial needs such as loans, deposits, or retirement or financial planning.
A grand-opening celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be a lion dance, prize giveaways and special limited-time promotional offers on products and services.
“The new Liliha branch reflects the continuation of our 25-year commitment to this community,” First Hawaiian Chairman and CEO Bob Harrison said in a statement.
“With Liliha’s new open-floor concept design, we’ve created a more personalized customer experience that provides banking convenience and further strengthens the relationships with our customers.”
The branch will have two smart ATMs that will accept cash and checks without the use of a deposit slip or envelope. The ATMs also will provide scanned images of deposited checks and cash. The branch will have a night depository for merchant customers as well as safe deposit boxes.
Irvin Wong, who has been with the Liliha Branch for nearly 10 years, will continue to serve as its branch manager. Kendall Wong is the area manager.
Branch hours will be Monday to Thursday from 8:30 to 4 p.m., Friday from 8:30 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
First Hawaiian has 57 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan.
