Hawaii Pacific junior Masato Yoshitsugu shot a 2-under-par 142 to finish tied for second at the Dixie State Island Invitational at the Kings’ Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort on Monday. Tuesday’s final round was rained out.
HPU’s men’s golf team finished fourth in the five-team tournament with a score of 609. Hawaii Hilo shot a 589 for third place, while host Dixie State clinched the title with a team total of 2-under 574.
Notre Dame de Namur edges Vulcans
Freshman Ellie Mujushi scored Notre Dame de Namur’s lone goal in the 29th minute to edge Hawaii Hilo 1-0 in a PacWest women’s soccer match on Tuesday at Paiea Stadium. Mujushi juked a UHH defender from 30 yards out, dribbled past another, and found the top right corner of the net past goalkeeper Jenna Hufford.
Hawaii Hilo fell to 6-7-1 overall and 3-6-1 in PacWest play, despite outshooting the Argonauts 11-6. The Vulcans also recorded six shots on goal compared to NDNU’s two. The Argonauts improved to 5-4-2 in the PacWest and 8-6-2 overall.
