Hawaii State Federal Credit Union closed in on the 100,000-member milestone as it increased its loans for the 16th straight quarter during the period from July to September.

The state’s second-largest credit union said Wednesday ahead of today’s official release that loans increased 17.8 percent to $829.9 million from $704.3 million in the year-earlier quarter. The credit union’s earnings, however, fell 24.7 percent to $1.1 million from $1.5 million.
During the third quarter, Hawaii State FCU’s membership rose 3.8 percent to 99,113 members from 95,494 in the year-earlier period. Assets rose 4.1 percent to $1.52 billion from $1.46 billion.
