Redundancy prevails in our government regarding the tons of rubbish from the homeless camps hauled out each time.
The Aiea bike path, Neil S. Blaisdell Park, the bridge in Wahiawa, the Nimitz viaduct, and countless sidewalk camps were cleaned out without an effective solution to rectify this situation.
It is insanity to do the same thing over and over while thinking something else will result. Will we be doing the Kakaako Waterfront Park again? The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.

Provide security for homeless camps
Form a well-marked boundary on public lands for a homeless camp.
Install a mini-home (the kind that sits on a trailer) with plumbing and electricity for a security officer and his/her spouse. This resident security officer will instill law and order and call in counseling, mental and public health practitioners, as required.

Lahaina Street needs attention for safety
Just last week a Honolulu police officer was asked to come to our house to cite illegally parked cars blocking the asphalt sidewalk on Lahaina Street.
After explaining how the handicapped have to go into the street to get around the cars, he said he would cite them.
I then asked him to get officers to patrol during the morning and afternoon school hours. Makaha Elementary is just down the road from our house. Auwe, a boy was run over on Lahaina Street recently. What more does it take for safe streets?
Also, the lines painted to delineate the sidewalk, crosswalks, and dividing line for traffic have not been done in over a year and have faded. I hate to have to bother my City Council member more than once for something that should be maintained for all our safety.

Hollywood left, elites hypocritical
This past election we got the full-court press from the Hollywood left and the coastal elites preaching virtue. I’ve heard several times that liberal Democrats are better people than Republicans.
Guess what, people are people. President Donald Trump has been vilified for his misogyny and vulgarity, but how is it that the A-listers will give Roman Polanski a standing ovation for his Academy Award? And how is it that the usual vocal outrage was absent about Harvey Weinstein?
The celebrities claim ignorance. Even the media, namely NBC, soft-pedaled this story. Weinstein was powerful, a political operative and a player in the Hollywood industry.
What hypocrisy.
