4 people arrested in road rage shooting

Hawaii island police arrested four people in connection with a road rage shooting incident Tuesday evening but released three and charged one.

Police charged 24-year-old Beau Dedier of Puna with two counts of first-degree reckless endangering and firearm offenses.

On Tuesday evening police responded to several reports of gunshots on Kanoelehua Avenue near Waianuhea Place in Hilo coming from a moving vehicle that witnesses described as a red sedan. Investigators later learned it was involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Police later found the same vehicle at the parking lot of an apartment complex on West Lanikaula Street. In addition to Dedier, they arrested a 23-year-old Puna man, a 20-year-old Hilo man and a 19-year-old Hilo woman on suspicion of reckless endangering.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any other information is asked to call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Detective Jesse Kerr at 961-2377 or Jesse.Kerr@hawaiicounty.gov.
