A high-surf advisory has been issued for the east-facing shores of the major Hawaiian Islands through 6 p.m. Monday as tradewinds remain intense.
Surf of 6 to 10 feet will increase to 8 to 12 feet late today, the National Weather Service said. Seas are 8 to 13 feet.
The remainder of Hawaiian waters are under a small craft advisory, while all islands are under a high wind advisory.
The trades will weaken slightly on Monday and Tuesday but will remain breezy and gusty through much of the week.
Maui and Hawaii island could get periods of heavy rainfall during the week.
