Four players scored in double figures as the Adams State men’s basketball team rallied from an 8-point halftime deficit to defeat Hawaii Pacific 82-80 at Moanalua High School’s gym on Saturday afternoon.
Shane Johnson led the Grizzlies (2-4) with 26 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 on 3-point attempts. Adams State led 76-66 with 5:27 to go and the Sharks could only close to within two after a layup by Spencer Vering in the closing seconds.
Niksha Federico had a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds for the Sharks (3-3), which were both game highs.
Up next for HPU is a matchup with Biola on Thursday at Blaisdell Arena. Adams State faces Hawaii at the Stan Sheriff Center on Monday night.
