Today, hopefully, we’ll all have a chance to soak in some fellowship and peace amid the busy holiday season.
And what a season of shopping it is every year, one that seems to grow with personality as time goes on. Consider: Right on the heels of Thanksgiving, it’s Black Friday, one of the busiest buying days of the year. Then it’s Small Business Saturday, coined to support local and smaller entrepreneurs. Then comes Cyber Monday, that offering of online deals, followed by Giving Tuesday, which launches the charitable season.
And in case you were in it but didn’t know: Two days ago, it was Super Saturday, also known as Panic Saturday, a major day for retailers targeting last-minute shoppers. Whew.
Whizzing along with Wi-Fi at Honolulu airport
“Free Wi-Fi debuts at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport,” blared this week’s headline. It’s about time.
Travelers, and those who pick them up at Honolulu’s airport, have been awaiting this service, especially those who’ve enjoyed such connectivity at other modern airports. The free Wi-Fi, offered by Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, is sponsored by advertisers, but customers can buy a 1-day or monthly subscription for faster speeds.
Coverage now includes the Overseas Terminal and Central Concourse between ticket lobbies 4 to 8, gates 12 to 25 and baggage claims E to H. Coming next year: Honolulu airport-wide service, as well as Wi-Fi at the Kahului, Hilo, Kona and Lihue airports. Welcome to the 21st century.
