A year of change in prep landscape


    The Big Island entered 2017 with its teams never having won a state football championship, but Hilo earned the island’s first (in Division I) and Konawaena went seven overtimes before falling to Lahainaluna for the Divsion II championship.


    Cal Lee and Saint Louis repeated as football champion in 2017, paving the way for a second dynasty. Kai Kaneshiro and Mitchell Quinn carried the fruit of their labor off the field after beating Kahuku.
