California winemaker Gavin Chanin of Chanin Wine Co. in Santa Barbara and Lutum Wines in Lompoc will be in town for two dinners next week that will feature Chanin’s single-vineyard chardonnays and pinot noirs.

A homestyle pork adobo dish that won a cooking contest last fall has been added to the menu at Mahina & Sun’s as the Adobo Bowl, with upscale adornments of avocado, pickled mushrooms, sesame kale and crispy onions.
Flora Bumanglag won the October cookoff, judged by a panel led by Maui chef Sheldon Simeon of “Top Chef” fame.
The Adobo Bowl is available for lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with hapa rice (brown and white mixed), organic greens or a mix.

The main course will be duck breast with an orange pepper demi sauce, paired with Gap’s Crown, Sonoma Coast, Pinot Noir 2013. Cost is $95. >> Sansei Waikiki: Chanin’s wines will be featured with dishes by chef Adrian Solorzano, 6 p.m. Jan. 18.
