Little did the members of the Hawaii volleyball team who enjoy country music know that they’d be living one of their favorite songs this week in Nashville.

“Colder Weather” by the Zac Brown Band summed up Friday for the No. 4 Rainbow Warriors, whose opening match against Lincoln Memorial in the Off Block’s Grow the Game Challenge was postponed due to inclement weather.

“It’s pretty extreme weather here,” Hawaii coach Charlie Wade said in a telephone call. “It’s snowing and it doesn’t snow in Nashville. We’ve seen multiple, multiple fender-benders and cars sliding.

“Part of being on the road is being flexible, so we’re dealing with what we can’t control, which is the weather. Some of the guys have never seen snow and they’re enjoying it.”

Hawaii now will play Lincoln Memorial on Sunday (10:30 a.m. Hawaii time) after playing its scheduled match with Grand Canyon (7:30 a.m.). Today the Warriors are scheduled to play Barton (3 p.m.).

Friday’s ice storm and snow, which dropped temperatures below 20 degrees, also postponed the Limestone-McKendree match. Three early matches did get played, with Charleston defeating Limestone 3-1, Lindenwood sweeping Erskine and No. 3 Grand Canyon sweeping North Greenville.
