Hawaiian Electric Co. announced Wednesday that customers will be able to participate in two new rooftop solar programs starting Feb. 20.
The new programs, Customer Grid Supply Plus and Smart Export, allow customers a limited ability to send electricity generated by photovoltaic systems to the utility and get paid for it. The programs were announced in October but the state Public Utilities Commission sought modifications.
