The Hawaii Hilo softball team split a pair of games Thursday at the Dixie State Easton Classic in St. George, Utah.
In the first game, Brinell Kaleikini hit a grand slam in the first inning of the Vulcans’ 6-5 victory over Western Washington (0-6). Isabelle Mejia hit a two-run single in the fourth to put Hilo ahead by six runs.
In the second game, Mejia, Kaleikini and Skylar Thomas homered for Hilo in an 8-5 loss to No. 8 Colorado Mesa (6-0).
The Vulcans moved to 6-3.
