The No. 24 Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team won its 16th straight game on Saturday after defeating Fresno Pacific 68-60.
Jessi Reeves led the charge for the Sharks (20-2, 14-1 PacWest) with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds. Jessica Malazarte led the Sunbirds (11-14, 9-8) with a game-high 19 points.
Five players scored in double digits for the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team en route to an 86-66 PacWest road victory over Fresno Pacific.
Spencer Vering led the Sharks (13-10, 8-7) with 15 points, while Sam Burt led the Sunbirds (5-20, 3-14) with a game-high 20 points.

Devin Johnson led the Vulcans (6-15, 5-9) with 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Brandon Simister led the Trailblazers (17-6, 14-2) with 20 points and six rebounds, which were both game highs.

Allie Navarette poured in 25 points for the Vulcans (6-11, 4-10), but it wasn’t enough as the Trailblazers (11-12, 7-9) wore UHH down with a balanced attack that featured three double-digit scorers. Tramina Jordan had a team-high 13 points for Dixie State.

Michaela Vanderklugt led the Eagles (13-9, 10-6) with a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds. Destiny Castro led the Silverswords (2-15, 2-13) with her third straight double-double, this time with with 22 points and 10 boards.
HPU baseball downs Minnesota Crookston
The Hawaii Pacific baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-3 victory over Minnesota Crookston (0-2) on Saturday at Hans L’Orange Park.
Joshua Savea picked up the win in relief for the Sharks, striking out six and giving up just two hits in 3 2/3 shutout innings.
Four players had multiple hits for HPU, including leadoff hitter and Pearl City alum Tanner Tokunaga, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
