MADISON, N.C. >> Remington, the gun maker beset by falling sales and lawsuits tied to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, has reached a financing deal that would allow it to continue operating as it seeks Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The maker of the Bushmaster AR-15-style rifle, used in the Connecticut shooting that left 20 first-graders and six educators dead in 2012, said Monday that the agreement with lenders will reduce its debt by about $700 million and add about $145 million in new capital.
The company was cleared of any wrongdoing in the shooting, but investors repulsed by the massacres distanced themselves from the company’s owner, investment firm Cerberus Capital Management.
Remington Outdoor Co., the nation’s oldest gun maker, will attempt to file a prepackaged reorganization plan with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Delaware under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code.
‘Five-0’ filming at YWCA Laniakea this week
CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” is filming at the historic YWCA Laniakea building in downtown Honolulu this week.
The YWCA of Oahu gave members a heads-up of the filming schedule, which began with preparing Sunday and continues through Friday. Today and Wednesday, crews will be using Room 103, the archive, main lobby and second floor.
On Thursday morning, crews will be filming along the floor hallway and loggia, the main lobby and nurses’ station in the early afternoon, and Room 103 in the late afternoon. On Friday, crews will be filming near the loading dock as well as in the main lobby and conference room in the morning, then Laniakea’s basement and archive room in the afternoon.
“As they prep location and during filming, there will be some disruptions to our usual operations,” the YWCA said in its email. “At times, production staff may ask you to hold for a few minutes, or limit access to locations. We appreciate your help and patience if you are temporarily delayed.”
Questions and concerns can be directed to YWCA Laniakea business development and operations manager Rhonda Jones at rjones@ywcaoahu.org.
