Hawaii senior Rachael Turner drove in two runs and Brittany Hitchcock earned a complete-game victory in the Rainbow Wahine softball team’s 3-1 win over Boise State in the Marucci Desert Classic on Sunday in Henderson, Nev.
Turner, a first baseman from Las Vegas, had two of UH’s three hits against the Broncos and the Wahine (4-2) picked up their fourth straight win. Turner drove in Nicole Lopez with a single in the bottom of the second inning and gave the Wahine an insurance run in the sixth with a two-out RBI single to score Alyssa Sojka.
Hitchcock gave up seven hits, struck out five and walked one while improving to 3-1. Boise State (5-6) cut UH’s lead to 2-1 in the top of the sixth and loaded the bases with two out. But the Wahine protected the lead when right fielder Britnee Rossi threw out a runner at first.
UH concludes the tournament today against host UNLV.
CWU downs Chaminade in softball
A seven-run deficit after the first two innings was too much for Chaminade to overcome as Central Washington defeated the Silverswords 8-4 on Sunday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Kayla Henmi recorded three of Chaminade’s (0-3) seven hits and drove in a run in the loss. Due to weather, game two of the doubleheader was canceled.

Vulcans top Silverswords in tennis
UH Hilo swept Chaminade (0-3) women’s tennis 9-0 on Sunday in Kailua-Kona. It was the second time this weekend that the Vulcans got a 9-0 win over the Silverswords.
UH Hilo (2-1) takes on No. 4 Hawaii Pacific today at 10 a.m. at the Holua Tennis Center in Kailua-Kona.
