South Korean broadcasters and production companies, busy with TV coverage of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, have been pre-empting all their prime-time shows, from entertainment programming to dramas. As a result, for the next two weeks, KBFD will not be broadcasting its usual slate of Korean dramas that normally air at 7:45 p.m. weekdays.
Instead, special two-part dramas will air Monday through Thursday, until our regularly scheduled programming resumes.
The situation is similar to when South Korea hosted the Summer Olympics in 1988.
With the participation of North Korean athletes and the combined women’s ice hockey team consisting of players from South and North Korea, the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics have been very special to many South Koreans.
