You know how they say “two’s company, three’s a crowd”? Not that Gov. David Ige and his challenger for the governor’s seat, U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, consider each other “company.”
Now here comes former state Sen. Clayton Hee, throwing his (iconic cowboy) hat in the ring, hoping to ride the change wave.
Once upon a time, the Democratic incumbent governor always prevailed. But Ige himself challenged Gov. Neil Abercrombie — and won. Another expression, “Turnabout is fair play,” may apply here as well. Three definitely makes the race crowded. And in a crowd, anything can happen.
Much attention hopping around Halawa the wallaby
An injured wallaby found near Halawa Correctional Facility is now a ward of the state, sort of. The Department of Land and Natural Resources has jurisdiction over the knee-high, 12-pound marsupial. Here’s hoping a new home for him can be established at the zoo.
Halawa likely hails from a colony in Kalihi Valley, started with a pair of wallabies brought to a private zoo in Alewa Heights from Australia in 1916.
