Strength in language: Hawaiian usage gains momentum

    At Ke Kula Kaiapuni ‘o Anuenue, the kindergarten through 12th-grade Hawaiian immersion school, kindergarten teacher Kawehi Mielke worked with Ikua Vitale last month in their Palolo Valley classroom.

The state of the Hawaiian language renaissance, said Na‘alehu Anthony, can be gauged by a visit to the drug store, or some similar community stomping grounds. He’s done that, and the conclusion he’s drawn: Hawaiian is gaining in strength. Read more
