Cole Nakachi pitched 32⁄3 scoreless innings of relief and Reese Kato batted 3-for-3 with two runs scored as the Hawaii Hilo baseball team beat Concordia 6-4 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Kamehameha-Hawaii.
Jonathan Segovia and Phillip Steering both drove in two runs for the Vulcans and John Kea recorded the final two outs for his fifth save of the season.
In the seven-inning second game, four Eagles pitchers combined on a four-hitter in Concordia’s 3-0 victory.
The Vulcans moved to 14-20, 10-16 PacWest, while the Eagles went to 14-24, 11-17.

In the first game, Christian Kapeliela had a three-run triple for the Sharks in an 18-4 loss. The Cougars’ Tripp Aversa pitched 51⁄3 scoreless innings of relief and Mychael Goudreau drove in five runs.
In the seven-inning second game, HPU managed only two hits in a 13-0 loss.
The Sharks dropped to 16-19, 10-17 PacWest, while the Eagles improved to 32-3, 22-3.
Lau falls in second round at Margaret River
Hawaii’s Ezekiel Lau lost his second-round heat at the Margaret River Pro today in Margaret River, Australia.
Lau lost to California’s Conner Coffin 11.83 to 9.57.
Hawaii’s Keanu Asing, Sebastian Zietz and John John Florence will compete in the third round.
Bennett to speak at Honolulu QB Club
Brian “Disco” Bennett will be the featured speaker at Monday’s meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club at the Maple Garden restaurant.
Bennett is the director, outreach and government affairs, U.S. Pacific Fleet and is heading up a committee for the installation of a new monument for Alexander Joy Cartwright, Jr., the Father of Modern Baseball.
The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m., with the program to start at noon. The cost is $16. The meeting is open to the general public.
