The Hawaii Hilo men’s golf team is in third place after the second round of the PacWest golf championships in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
The Vulcans, who have a team total of 587, are 13 strokes behind team leader Dixie State. Hawaii Pacific is in eighth place with a a 610, while Chaminade and Notre Dame De Namur are tied for last place out of 10 teams with team totals of 647.
Spencer Wallace of Dixie is the individual leader with a 4-under 140. Hawaii Hilo’s Taylor Patrick is tied for 10th out of 50 golfers with a 2-over 146.
>> California Baptist leads the women’s field after two rounds with a 4-over 580, while Hawaii Pacific sits at sixth with a 77-over 653. Hawaii Hilo is in last place out of nine teams with a 132-over 708.
Academy of Art’s Anahi Servin is in first with a two-round total of 8-under 136. Hawaii Pacific’s Mint Chimsuti is tied for 11th with a 9-over 153.
Hawaii Hilo swept by Academy of Art
Academy of Art swept the Hawaii Hilo softball team in a road doubleheader in Brisbane, Calif.
Brooke Larsen tossed a complete game in a 4-3 win for the Urban Knights (37-12, 20-6 PacWest) to improve to 20-3 this season. The freshman struck out nine and gave up three hits despite walking six.
Isabelle Mejia took the loss for the Vulcans (29-15, 17-9) in Game 2, a 9-1 victory for Academy of Art. Celia Lopez pitched for the Urban Knights, scattering four hits in five innings with three strikeouts and a walk.
