UH sailing falls short of nationals
The UH sailing team failed to qualify for coed nationals for the first time in six years as the Rainbows placed fifth in both the PCCSC Coed Dinghy and Team Race championships held Friday and Saturday at Keehi Lagoon.
UH (126 points) fell a point short of a top-four spot and a berth to the ICSA Coed Dinghy Nationals held in Norfolk, Va., as Cal Poly (125 points) finished just ahead for fourth. Stanford (56), UC Santa Barbara (64) and California (118) were the top three finishers.
The Rainbows sailed in six team races on Saturday, going 2-4 and failing to advance to Sunday’s final four at Keehi, which had two spots on the line for next month’s national team race championships.
