Gentry Homes has tapped one veteran to replace another at the helm of one of Hawaii’s biggest homebuilders.
The company announced Wednesday that Robert “Bob” Brant retired as president and CEO and was replaced by Chief Financial Officer Quentin Machida.
The change was effective Wednesday. Machida joined Gentry in 1990.
Brant had been Gentry’s leader since January 2001, and had joined the company in 2000 after overseeing commercial real estate lending at Bank of Hawaii.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to lead an incredible team at Gentry Homes,” Machida said in a statement. “Bob Brant has been an inspirational leader for our company and mentor to me and many others, and I am proud to continue pursuing our vision of providing quality homes and communities for a better Hawaii.”
Brant added in a statement: “I am proud to be associated with Gentry and its employees, as the company has become a major force in real estate development.”
Gentry Homes was established in 1968, and the company has built about 14,000 homes statewide, including the Waipio Gentry and Ewa By Gentry master-planned communities.
