Hawaii’s Keanu Asing and Sebastian Zietz lost their third-round heats at the World Surf League’s Uluwatu CT today in Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia.
Asing lost to Australia’s Owen Wright 13.43-10.43, while Zietz fell to California’s Conner Coffin 14.77-9.16.
Hawaii’s John John Florence will face Australia’s Mikey Wright in his third-round heat.
In the women’s event, Hawaii’s Carissa Moore and Tatiana Weston-Webb will compete in a quarterfinal heat.
U.S. men’s volleyball team swept
The U.S. national men’s volleyball team, with three players from Hawaii in the lineup, fell to Germany, 25-19, 25-22, 25-13 in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Ottawa, Canada, on Friday.
Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) started at setter and was replaced by Kawika Shoji (‘Iolani) in the third set. Erik Shoji (Punahou) was the libero for the entire match.
It was the second consecutive loss for the Americans (5-2), who meet Australia (1-6) today.
