Honolulu firefighters rescued an injured male hiker Saturday evening on the Lanipo Trail.
The man, 22, had injured his lower left leg while hiking with five other males approximately a mile into the hike. Honolulu firefighters arrived at 5:32 p.m., established a command post and used the Air 1 helicopter with two rescue specialists to pick up the man. All six hikers were visitors.
The patient was airlifted to Palolo Valley District Park and transferred to the care of Emergency Medical Services paramedics at 6:25 p.m.
Man found unresponsive in Waikiki waters
A city ambulance crew transported a 78-year-old man in critical condition to a hospital emergency room Sunday after he was pulled from waters off Waikiki Beach.
The city’s Emergency Medical Services said the man was found unresponsive in the water at about 11:30 a.m. City lifeguards performed CPR on the man until the ambulance crew arrived and took over the lifesaving effort en route to the hospital.
