The U.S. men’s national team, with two players from Hawaii in the lineup, turned back host Canada 23-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20 in a FIVB Volleyball Nations League match Sunday in Ottawa, Ontario.
Setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) had two blocks as the Americans finished with a 14-3 edge. Erik Shoji (Punahou) played the entire way at libero.
The U.S. (7-2) completed the third round of VNL pool play in fourth place. The Americans will host the fourth round this week in Hoffman Estates, Ill., playing Serbia (6-3) on Friday, Poland (8-1) on Saturday and Iran (3-6) on Sunday at the Sears Centre.
Also on the U.S. roster are setter Kawika Shoji (‘Iolani) and middle Taylor Averill (University of Hawaii).
