Honolulu police are searching for as many as three males in an attempted murder investigation after a male customer was shot in the abdomen as he confronted suspects robbing a vape shop in Aiea.
Aloha E-Liquids put out a statement on social media Tuesday thanking the community for its prayers and support, and posting a fuzzy image of two of the three main suspects in Monday night’s robbery.
Police said the adult suspects entered the shop at Harbor Center, 98-029 Hekaha St., at about 7:50 p.m. Monday. The suspects allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded money.
Police said money was taken out of the cash register. At some point there was a struggle between the suspects and the customer who confronted them. Police said the money was dropped and the patron shot in the abdomen.
The suspects fled the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.
Police said the assailants and victim are strangers.
The victim was transported in serious but stable condition to a trauma center.
The vape shop was closed Tuesday but expected to reopen today.
In its post on Instagram and Facebook, the company asked that anyone with information that could lead to an arrest call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
