Honolulu firefighters responded to a fire at a luxury condominium building in Kakaako late Monday.
Eleven fire units with over 40 firefighters responded to the blaze on the rooftop of Ae‘o at 1001 Queen St. shortly after 10:30 p.m. Honolulu fire spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant said a stack of construction materials was observed burning on the roof.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 10:59 p.m. and extinguished it within 20 minutes. Damage was confined to the building materials on the roof.
No injuries were reported.
Seguirant said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
In an emailed statement, a Ward Village spokeswoman said the residential building is an active construction site. The parking garage at Ae‘o, which includes parking for Whole Foods Market, is open.
Kawananakoa trust court hearing postponed
A court hearing in the dispute over the $215 million Abigail Kawananakoa trust has been delayed to July 12.
The delay was granted by Circuit Judge R. Mark Browning after a trio of Kawananakoa’s former employees filed an emergency petition last week asking for a postponement of Thursday’s court hearing seeking to remove a trustee.
Thongbay Smart, Mark Smart and Wayne Shizuru argued that as beneficiaries of the trust, Hawaii law entitles them to notice of any petition that could affect their rights under the trust.
Honolulu attorney Megan Kau asked for a delay until September, but Browning denied that request.

Body recovered from Wailua hiking trail identified
A man’s body was recovered Tuesday morning from the Sleeping Giant hiking trail in Wailua, police said.
He has been identified as Hunter Bilbo, 24, of Wailua Homesteads.
Police said Bilbo was hiking the Nounou Trail, also known as Sleeping Giant, late Monday afternoon when he fell about 200 feet over the edge of a cliff.
On Monday, firefighters and air rescue personnel were dispatched to the area around 3:30 p.m. After a nearly three-hour search, personnel in Air 1 spotted Bilbo’s body in heavy brush but had to postpone their recovery operations due to nightfall and rough terrain.
Rescuers resumed their search Tuesday and hiked into the area, where they recovered Bilbo’s body at approximately 11 a.m.
