Former First Hawaiian Bank Chief Financial Officer Michael Ching is returning to Ernst & Young LLP to take over as Honolulu office managing partner. He will begin on Oct. 1.
Ching will be responsible for continuing to grow the practice, managing resources and overseeing client service in the Hawaii market. He will succeed Jeff Bartlett, who will retire after 35 years with the firm.
“Mike’s extensive experience advising clients on a variety of issues and in various industries will allow EY to continue to offer companies in Hawaii sound counsel and leadership,” said Ernst & Young partner Mark Jain said.
Prior to his position at First Hawaiian, Ching served Ernst & Young for 22 years with a focus on assurance, advisory and tax services.

First Hawaiian Bank has announced the following bank officers’ promotions:
>> Ken Miller has been promoted to FHB senior vice president, chief investment officer and Institutional Wealth Management Division manager. Miller has 22 years of financial sector experience, including serving in positions at JP Morgan Securities and McKinsey & Co.
>> Jody J. Mukaigawa has been promoted to senior vice president and team leader at FHB’s Kapiolani Banking Region. Mukaigawa has 23 years of banking experience, including joining First Hawaiian Bank in 2009 and serving as a vice president and business banking officer at its Main Banking Region.
>> Lea M. Nakamura has been promoted to First Hawaiian Bank’s senior vice president and Treasury & Investment Division manager. Nakamura has 28 years of banking experience, including primarily working in correspondent banking, liquidity, treasury functions, economic capital, managing derivatives as well as market and credit risks.
>> David K. Rair has been promoted to FHB’s senior vice president in the Legal and Corporate Services Division. He has been with First Hawaiian Bank since 2012, serving as a vice president in the division. Prior to that, Rair was a Honolulu attorney for 28 years specializing in commercial lending, banking and financial services.
