The former Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel at the Mauna Kea Resort on the Kohala coast debuted Monday as The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort following a multimillion-dollar renovation.
Renovations at the property, which will continue to be owned and managed by Prince Resorts Hawaii, included improvements to the resort’s 232 guestrooms and 17 suites as well as its public areas. The resort’s lobby was refreshed with a custom living wall and vertical garden, and a new adults-only pool was added to the existing family pool area.
Four new dining concepts also have been introduced. Meridia, a Mediterranean inspired restaurant, will debut along with a Hapuna Club/Member Lounge. Naupaka Beach Grill will open poolside offering Pacific Rim cuisine. The ‘Ikena Landing will offer fresh juice, smoothies and breakfast. The Piko Coffee + Bar will serve 100 percent Kona Coffee, alcoholic drinks and light and grab-and-go menu selections.
Trump threatens Harley-Davidson for move
WASHINGTON >> President Donald Trump sought Tuesday to avoid blame for Harley-Davidson’s decision to move some motorcycle production overseas and threatened to tax the manufacturer “like never before!” as punishment for the planned production shift.
The Milwaukee-based company said Monday it came to its decision because of retaliatory tariffs it faces in an escalating trade dispute between the U.S. and the European Union. The company had no immediate response Tuesday to the president’s assertions.
Trump warned the iconic American brand that any shift in production “will be the beginning of the end.”
“The Aura will be gone and they will be taxed like never before!” Trump said in one of several tweets Tuesday morning about Harley-Davidson. It was unclear what the president was referring to or how he could impose taxes on a single company.
