Hotel workers union rallies in Waikiki heading into talks

    Members of the hotel workers union, Local 5, rallied on Wednesday leading up to bargaining talks as 20 contracts are set to expire this year.

    Union member Morgan Evans used a megaphone to charge up about 1,000 Unite Here Local 5 members headed for a rally Wednesday near the Duke Kahanamoku statue on Kalakaua Avenue.

    Gov. David Ige showed up to lend his support for about 1,000 hotel union members with Unite Here Local 5 during their rally near the Duke Kahanamoku statue on Kalakaua Avenue on Wednesday.
