New signs were installed Friday to reinforce the message that storage of personal property at parks, bus stops and other public areas is illegal.
The signs being installed at certain parks and other public areas say, in part, that personal property must be removed from the area within 24 hours or it will be impounded.
Certain bus stops and bus shelters are getting 1,500 signs that make it clear that lying down is prohibited under a new city ordinance.
Police warn of email extortion scam
Honolulu police and CrimeStoppers issued a warning about an email extortion scam that claims a hacker accessed the computer user’s webcam to record them viewing “inappropriate material” on the internet.
The hacker then threatens to release the video to the victim’s contacts unless a Bitcoin ransom is paid. CrimeStoppers advises not opening any attachments from strangers and covering computer cameras when not in use.
Anyone who receives such messages should call police.
