The Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii is accepting nominations for the 2019 Living Treasures of Hawaii.

Since 1976 the Honpa Hongwanji has recognized individuals who demonstrated high standards of achievement in their fields and who are continuing to preserve and perpetuate the island’s distinctive cultural and artistic heritage.

Candidates are selected on their demonstration of continuous growth and learning in their area of strength, their consistent sharing of knowledge and understanding of their particular field, and their steady and significant contributions toward enriching our society.

Nomination forms are available at the Honpa Hongwanji headquarters, 1727 Pali Highway, and at hongwanjihawaii.com. Completed nominations may be submitted by mail, by fax to 522-9209, by email to admin@honpahi.org or dropped off at the headquarters. The deadline is Sept. 1.

Living Treasures of Hawaii was inspired by the Living National Treasures (Ningen Kokuho) of Japan.
