The Hawaii women’s volleyball team makes its 2018 debut with Friday’s Green-White Scrimmage at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. followed by competition at 3 p.m. No concessions will be open and outside food is not allowed.
The Rainbow Wahine open the season next Friday against Gonzaga in the 7 p.m. second match of the Hawaiian Airlines Classic. In the 4:45 p.m. opener, No. 11 UCLA faces Kansas State.
The three-day tournament runs through Sunday’s 5 p.m. finale that has Hawaii and UCLA meeting for the 76th time.
Season tickets are available for the 18-match home schedule as well as six-match mini packs and individual matches. Individual tickets run from $5 to $23, mini packs for $30 to $75 and season tickets for $75 through $315, the latter price which includes a premium seat charge.

3 from Hawaii are preseason All-PacWest
Outside hitters Perla Escobar of Hawaii Pacific and Emma Tecklenburg of Chaminade, and libero Mina Grant of Hawaii Hilo have been named to the 2018 Preseason All-PacWest Volleyball team.
Azusa Pacific’s Julianne Miller was named the conference preseason player of the year.
Chaminade was selected fourth in the preseason PacWest Coaches Poll, with Hawaii Hilo sixth, and Hawaii Pacific 10th. Hawaii Hilo also received one first-place vote. Azusa Pacific was picked by the coaches to finish first.
Go Nuts moves on to championship game
The Go Nuts baseball team is on to the championship game of the 14u Babe Ruth World Series in Eagle Pass, Texas, after a 3-0 win over Norfolk, Conn.
Go Nuts got off to a fast start, leading off the game with five consecutive hits. Peyton Hino smacked an RBI double in the inning, giving Go Nuts all the offense it would need. Hino finished the game 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
On the mound, Makai Miyamoto tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and struck out three.
Go Nuts (5-0) will play Atlantic Shore, N.J. today at 1 p.m.
