Big mahalos to the Honolulu Little League World Series champions. Going undefeated and shutting out your opponents in the title game is a remarkable accomplishment.
The way they handled themselves and represented the 808 made the whole state proud, not only on the field but off the field. Manager Gerald Oda is the best coach and motivator. Everything he says is positive and respectful. Watching the pitcher, Kaolu Holt, smile when striking out his opponents was so heartwarming.
I don’t think there is a shirt big enough to hold Coach Oda’s heart. He coached a team without having a son on the team. He had only positive things to say about everything and everyone, he treated opponents with respect, he pushed his players to be the best players they can be, and he showed love can win games.
I just wish everyone could learn life lessons from Coach Oda. I sure did.
