Congratulations to the Star-Advertiser for your editorials on key issues, none more important to long-time residents of Honolulu than the proliferation of illegal short-term vacation rentals.

I can think of no other issue where there is such blatant disregard for the law and no enforcement. The hard-working but totally understaffed inspectors who have to jump through so many hoops that enforcement has become virtually nonexistent results in violators operating unimpeded.

Keep up the pressure to find a meaningful way to end this exponentially expanding problem.
